building community support for rezoning

MIT hoped to rezone a significant parcel in Kendall Square for increased commercial and academic development.

Working with the MIT team and the school’s development consultants, we built a public case for the rezoning that instilled confidence that MIT could achieve the redevelopment goals and made clear the potential cost to Cambridge of not keeping Kendall Square a competitive hub of the innovation economy.

Based on our work, MIT was able to assure that the community understood the parameters of the rezoning and that the University had the opportunity to reflect on and respond to community concerns associated with the process.
